Submit a new article| Spectroscopic observations of two very red objects toward the galactic center The authors present spectroscopic observations between 7000 and 10000Å of two very red objects in the direction of the galactic center. The spectra show a continuum with no evidence of the [S III] lines at9069 and 9532 Å. The lack of [S III] lines and the continuum sloperule out previous suggestions that these objects are compact H IIregions or compact star clusters at the galactic center. These objectsare most likely reddened foreground stars a few kiloparsecs from thegalactic center.
